“Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me."

How many followers do you have on Twitter? How many do you follow on FaceBook? Are you one of Jesus' few followers? What does it take to follow Jesus?

Following Jesus' footsteps requires three things:
     1. deny yourself
     2. take up your cross daily,
     3. follow Jesus

Let's talk first of what "denying ourselves" mean. There's what we call shallow denial: objects, hobbies, pastimes, food, marriage, etc. Well, those are the easy ones. If that's the case, is it really that easy to follow Jesus?

What does DENYING OURSELVES really means?

First, we must deny ourselves of SIN. Repentance, it is. And repentance is a two-way process: first we turn away from sins, second is we turn to God.

Second, we must deny ourselves of OURSELVES. It's more about letting our comforts and pride die, and everything that life can offer, for Jesus. Galatians 2:20, "My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So i live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God who loved me gave himself for me.

Having a new life led by Jesus, how joyful could life be. Letting your will die and allowing our God to simply accomplish His plans for us, nothing could go wrong.

Proverbs 16:9, "We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps." --- God really has the best plans for our lives.

Are we willing to deny ourselves of sin? of comforts and pride? of our own will? If so, when? What are the struggles that we have which are keeping us from following Jesus? After determining those, then what can we do about it?
